A New Species of Lepidophyma(Squamata: Xantusiidae) from the Pacific Lowlands ofGuerrero, Mexico.

We describe a new species of the genusLepidophymafrom the Pacific lowlands of Guerrero, southern Mexico. Previouslyreferred to asL. smithii, the new taxon is distinguished by a series of morphological characteristics, principally higher numbers of gulars,paravertebrals, and lateral tubercle rows. This new species increases the number of describedLepidophymato 20 species.
